Santa Rosa, CA. Marmot’s Exum Jacket has been awarded the 2008 “Best of Adventure Gear” by the editors of National Geographic Adventure Magazine. The highly technical, lightweight jacket is already one of the company’s best selling shells in an inaugural season and exemplifies Marmot’s new design ethos of “clean, modern and functional.”
The Exum is a technical and durable shell designed for alpine climbing, ski-mountaineering and all high-performance mountain activities. It is the brainchild of Aubrey Vaughn, Marmot’s Senior Designer and Brian LaPlante, Outerwear Category Manager. Through the development of the jacket, Vaughn and LaPlante worked closely with leading Exum Mountain Guides in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, one of Marmot’s three test centers world-wide. By using Gore-Tex Pro Shell® for a high performance-to-weight ratio, the Exum weighs in at only 14.5 ounces (men’s medium). The Exum has far surpassed Marmot’s expectations of performance and comfort and this past spring was tested on Iceland’s highest peak in wind speeds of over 100 miles per-hour.
The Exum Jacket embodies a sophisticated, fresh and emerging style developed by Greg Houser, Marmot’s Vice President of Design and leader of Marmot’s in-house design team.
