We had a group running in 2014 and again one this fall (2016). This fall we couldn’t make the first pass due to many days of rain and snow. But something else was rather disturbing. The pollution has become much worse. We (= the american company) are now considering not to offer this trek anymore. I don’t know what your contacts are in China and in the outdoor world, but maybe there is room for message to address this problem.
