(16) The Complete NE Ridge: May 11, 1995 - The first ascent of the complete NE Ridge was accomplished by a Japanese team that had to climb the Pinnacles before joining the standard NE Ridge route. The summit is reached by Kiyoshi Furuno, Shigeki Imoto, and Sherpas Dawa Tshering, Pasang Kami, Lhakpa Nuru, and Nima Dorje. Summits: 6 (17) N-NE (Zakharov's) Couloir: May 20, 1996 - Russians Peter Kuznetzov, Valeri Kohanov, and Grigori Semikolenkov climb the Zakharov Couloir to the top of the North Ridge, and then follow the NE Ridge to the summit. Ironically, the leader of the climb Nikolai Zakharov turns around within 15 minutes of the summit searching for a lost comrade.
